My Lord,
I am sorry to be obliged to report that the state of Mr Rennie's health is such as to necessitate his immediate early return to Europe, and I have therefore to invite Your Lordship's attention to the fact that by his departure the Executive Council will lose one of its ablest members, and will consist only of the Commandant (an officer changing from time to time and without much great experience to render his advice as valuable as no doubt it otherwise would be), the Colonial Secretary, and the Attorney General.
